Personel Budget

What is a Personal Budget? (Direct Payment)

A Personal Budget can be created from your own money or from a Direct Payment from your Local Authority.  A Direct Payment is exactly that “A payment made directly to a person to purchase their own care and support.” It is money paid by the council to people who are eligible and have been assessed as needing services.

Taking a Direct Payment provides flexibility around how your support is provided so you can decide who provides support to you and when. The people we work with tell us that using a Direct Payment provides real choice and control around how support is received.

Salvere supports people with a Direct Payment who want to employ a Personal Assistant or buy care services. We will help you to become a successful employer and we will continue to back you up with ongoing support and advice should you need that in the future. The idea of becoming an employer may seem overwhelming to many people but we provide advice and support throughout the whole process and for as long as you need to ensure you are never left unsupported in your role as an employer.

We recognise that everyone will need help from time to time. We tailor the level of support to each individual. We can offer the support you need over the phone and online. For people in Lancashire, Wigan and Cumbria who choose we can also offer you a visit from an Independent Living Advisor in your own home.

People who have taken up Direct Payments say that they have so much more control over their lives. We will guide you to get the right support to live independently and achieve the things in life you want.

What is a Personal Health Budget?

A personal health budget is an amount of money to support a person's identified health and wellbeing needs, planned and agreed between the person and their local NHS team. Our vision for personal health budgets is to enable people with long term conditions and disabilities to have greater choice, flexibility and control over the health care and support they receive. More information can be found on the NHS England website; http://www.personalhealthbudgets.england.nhs.uk/About/

We expect to see personal health budgets become increasingly popular as people begin to appreciate their flexibility for the employment of personal assistants and teams of support staff who can help patients to maintain better levels of independence on their terms.
